Foundations That Stand Up to the Heat
Summer has always been one of my favorite seasons, sun drenched long days, golden hour content shoots, Leo (birthday) season and that undeniable glow that only July can bring. But let’s be real: as much as I love the warmth, my skin doesn’t always agree. Between the humidity, sweat, and long hours outside filming or running errands, I’ve been on a never ending quest to find a foundation that can hold its own without slipping off by noon. Over the years, I’ve tested and tried countless formulas, some flopped within minutes of stepping outside, while others surprised me and became year-round staples. I’m sharing the foundations that truly have earned their keep when the heat is relentless in the swelter.

Lipgloss Poppin'

For the longest time, I have not been a fan of lipgloss. Something about the tacky feeling that I never got used to, growing up lipglosses all were tacky or at least the ones that my friends and I used in high school were. I'll admit I likened lipgloss to 12-16 year old girls and not for adult 20 somethings and beyond. I love my mattes, satins, velvety lipsticks and of course dashes of color too. But I have learned that lately many makers of lip glosses have been creating better options for adults that don't include glitter or "bubble gum" pink! My latest obsession is with Marc Jacob's new lip gloss, Enamored.

Beauty Bit, Bold Weekend Look
![]() |
| Illustrated by Jacqueline Davis Moranti |
When it comes to doing your makeup, Monday through Friday is pretty bare and minimal. Going to work means looking like a "normal" human being that can function in the world. If you were to discover a new beauty trend throughout the week that would mean holding off on it until the weekend. For example when Fenty Beauty dropped (Tuesday), unicorn eyebrows, contouring, glitter eyeliner, moody lips, as lovely as all of these trends are, all are unfortunately inappropriate for the office. As soon as 5pm on Friday hits, it's game on with my makeup. All rules are broken and no beauty trend is off limits! I've been using a lot of It Cosmetics products, so naturally I like to play around with my looks utilizing their products.

How I Cat Eye

As a makeup junkie, I love to try everything! From bright and vibrant hues to the subtle touches of animated colors and textures. I am no makeup artist, but I do try to conquer certain tricky and fickle makeup trends. The one that I have trouble with the most is certainly not new to the scene but it is definitely a pain to pull off, the enviable cat eye. Like many women, I love a good cat eye it's a classic with major impact. I've spent hours and hours working on this trend, and I'm proud to say that not only have I mastered it, I've found my own style with it!

Beauty Bit, Strobing
![]() |
| Illustrated by Jacqueline Davis Moranti |
Remember when everyone was contouring their face? It was a 10 or even 100 step way to get your makeup to show off the angles of your face but since it was such a hassle to complete all the steps, most who tried failed miserably myself included and just scrapped the whole ordeal. Strobing IS the much friendlier version of contouring and brings a lot of light to your face because you're actually highlighting all the way through! Since I tried to contour and failed, I thought I'd give strobing a go, and I quite enjoyed it!

Beauty Bit, Pigmented

Lipstick is my vice. Anything that has to do with the lips, like liners, lipsticks, glosses, balms, butters, primers, you name it, I love it! When it comes to makeup, what you do with the lips anchors the whole look it can also make or break your makeup look too. Lately I've been on the hunt for lip liners, I treat lip liners as my lip primer. I find it to be the best base for a great lip- focused look and it also enhances the color of any lipstick. Some lip liners are decadent enough to wear alone, like a crayon for your lips! I've recently found some liners to make me realize why I love lip products from Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics!

I am forever on a quest to find the perfect nudes and browns for my arsenal. Not sure why it's such a difficult feat, but my guess is that not too many companies feel the need to expand the ranges of browns to compliment the complexities of complexions. I've gone from beauty store, to department store, to online sites and DIY projects to find the perfect shade but to no avail! One day, recently, I stumbled across this new brand that was gaining a lot of buzz, it was all over my social media news feeds and even my friends were telling me to try it out. There was no escaping the grasp of the Kardashian/ Jenner tribe, I gave in and tried Kylie Cosmetics.

Spring Into Beauty

It's finally that time of the year to pull out all of your favorite, colorful palettes and pods of makeup. The demure colors from the past such as your darks and jewel tones can stay in the back of your makeup cabinet/ drawer because Spring has sprung and vibrancy is all around us! Just because our wardrobe changes with the season, that doesn't mean that our makeup has to fall by the way side. This season, I vow to take chances and risks with my makeup looks starting with these three (Scroll down!)
