Spring Into Beauty

Photos by Kevin Smith

It's finally that time of the year to pull out all of your favorite, colorful palettes and pods of makeup. The demure colors from the past such as your darks and jewel tones can stay in the back of your makeup cabinet/ drawer because Spring has sprung and vibrancy is all around us! Just because our wardrobe changes with the season, that doesn't mean that our makeup has to fall by the way side. This season, I vow to take chances and risks with my makeup looks starting with these three (Scroll down!)

This year's beauty trends are taking a hint from Fall runway shows, like vampy lips, bright on bright colors and major metallics. With warmer months ahead, it's a great idea to test out your range from now to later. Pink shadow is a major trend for Spring, blush tones are like a wash across the eyes with a bit of boldness. I chose to go with a deep fuchsia, anything lighter and it would look unnoticeable on my skin tone, paired with an equally bright lip of the same shade. This trend was also seen at the most recent Dior show.

The weather may be warming up but lipsticks are still stuck on Fall. Don't put away those berries and purples just yet! This Spring being perfectly "gothic" is on trend for day time looks, which is great for me because I love my bordeaux lipsticks. When ever I try this trend, I try to keep everything else somewhat muted, that way the lips remain the highlight, a quick way to look polished with out too much effort.

Bright colors are all the rage for Spring, as seen on many of the F/W '17 fashion shows, my favorite in particular, Missoni. Go bold or go home is my mantra for lively makeup looks, with this look I used a lot of turquoise, liner and shadow with a metallic silver to tone it down a bit. Whenever I do heavy eye makeup, I tend to keep the rest of the products neutral, with this look in particular a pink- nude lip with rosy gold highlighter.

This season, try new looks with your makeup because life is too short for boring looks. Be the trendsetter that you are and go for that bold lip or vibrant eyeliner because it may just be what your outfit was missing! This year I vow to go against boring because fashion is fun. Dear readers, what makeup trends are you trying out this season?
