Fashion's New Year.

It Girls by Jacqueline Moranti

September is probably my favorite month of the year, if you're as addicted to fashion as I am you might agree. I mean besides the perfect weather, September is the beginning of the new year for fashion, new trends, brands, designs are introduced. And one of the starting events for the fashion new year is FNO(Fashion's Night Out). I'm pretty sure most of you are familiar with Fashion's Night Out, and if your not check out the site, ASAP! It takes place on Thursday evening, September 6, all around the world! If you're in the Philadelphia area, make sure you check out all the awesome events happening, i've already built my itinerary! Figuring out where to go is a big part of that night, but so is what to wear. Since you will be doing a lot of walking around, comfortability plays a big role. Stilettos, out of the question! Wedges, platforms and booties, yes! You're going to want to wear something that says you know the trends and know how to incorporate it into your daily wardrobe.

With these looks I've put together, I tried to do just that. The first one, top left, is the printed denim shorts, a popular trend from the early spring season that still has moves to make this Fall. I've paired it with a colorblocked blouse, and gold accents to dress it up. The next image, top right, is the animal printed top, with a stream lined, black maxi skirt. Honestly, animal print won't go anywhere, that trend is here to stay! The bottom left image features the peplum trend. Peplum is super flattering and looks great with so many pieces. I've paired the peplum top with a calf length, printed skirt and tucked a complimentary blouse underneath the peplum top. The last image uses the metallic trend and coated denim trend together. Pieces with sheen look particularly good together, just make sure the colors aren't overbearing.
PS, illustrating the outfits down is such a great way of planning your looks. I know exactly what I want  to pair with this and that because I already have an image of what it will look like! Hopefully your FNO outfit woes are cleared away and I hope to see some of you on September 6!

One of the most unique and versatile pieces in our closets are our maxi skirts. It can also be pretty confusing, since there's so many options with it. Yes, it's a skirt and you can wear it simply the way you see it, but what's the fun in that?!
Lengthy maxi skirts are the most fun, you get to play with a lot of fabric! One of my favorite thing to do is pin different parts of the hem in different areas of the skirt, it gives off a really neat draping affect. You could also use fancy, decorative pins, such as an embellished brooch. Or you could tie one side of the skirt in a knot, it looks really cool when you put the knot in the front. Another way of wearing this trend, is by wearing the skirt with a same colored top to create the illusion of a one piece. When I wear it this way, I 'll usually throw on a wide belt to hide waist bands, plus it also looks great! One of the other way to wear a maxi skirt, is to take one part of the hem and pull it up to the waist and tuck it in. This trick looks especially great with a hi- lo maxi skirt. I know it sounds strange but you can't knock it until you try it!
I hope that these few tips have vastly helped give you different ways to wear the maxi skirt this summer. There are a ton of more ways to wear this trend, both imaginative and creative, how will you be wearing it? The next time you see a maxi skirt in one of your favorite stores, don't hesitate in getting it, you will find that you have more than one option with it.

Date Night.

Have you ladies ever just sit in front of your closet and wonder what to wear for a date with someone you really wanted to impress?! I know I have, and I'm hoping I can sort of ease your woes. The thing with date nights is that, even if it's not the first date with this person you still want to look just as great as you did the first date, you still want that "wow" factor. First and foremost, I should state that these are only my silly opinions. I believe that the first few dates should show 20 to 0% of skin, too much skin seems like your're revealing too much of yourself, way too soon. You want mr. right to wonder about you, not know you within the first 10 minutes of meeting you!

All of these outfits show skin in one way or another but it a smart classy way that doesn't mean your revealing too much. Top- left outfit shows off toned abs in a cropped, sweater. Paired with a high waisted, maxi skirt, printed with enlarged florals, very on trend this season with a statement necklace to top it off! The next outfit, top- right, shows off your body in a  nude colored, body suit. It's the perfect amount of tease! it is paired under a polka- dot maxi skirt, that has a slit that ends right above the knee. The bottom- left outfit has a flirtatious flair to it! A lace dress over a chartreuse tee dress, both minis, meaning time to show off those legs! I also put a chartreuse scarf on top to accentuate the color more while the belt and necklace compliment it, with blues and greens.  The last outfit, bottom- right, is my favorite! It's an off- white, maxi dress that has a sheer overlay on top of a mini slip, that also shows off your legs. I have a silky, kimono jacket and a beaded necklace to add some more interest to the dress. Can't wait to wear these out!
I hope that I may have been able to help out any frustrations!
