Summer Daze

It's the middle of summer here and in the eastern region of the USA, that means sky rocketing temperatures and humidity included. From sweating your makeup off to the horrible arm pit stains that creep up on you when you're wearing your favorite silk shirt, it's the essence of summer! Keeping layers super simple is of the utmost importance when it's 95 degrees, thats why having easy pieces to throw on and go is a wardrobe staple. Especially when your SO surprises you with a weekend trip to the south!

Best Fictional Boyfriends

Illustrations by Jacqueline Davis Moranti
I recently read an article on Refinery29 that compiled a list of the best fictional boyfriends, from literature and movies. It was definitely an interesting read and it brought back a lot of nostalgia from the 90s! It's also kind of fun to imagine these fictional characters as three dimensional people that actually now how to care for a woman and treat her well too. Plus, I thought it'd be fun to illustrate a few of them too!

Pacey Witter,  Dawson's Creek. Dawson's Creek was probably the first ever soap opera I've endured in my young adolescent life and I was definitely team Pacey! Joshua Jackson's character, Pacey, was comparable to a tragic hero in a novel, flawed but still good at heart with great intentions. He didn't always do the right things, yet he had a way to make you swoon over his rebel without a cause image. Pacey's style was very all American J. Crew meets boy next door. With his soulful eyes and and suave attitude who wouldn't want him to live next door!?

Robert Neville, I Am Legend. Will Smith's character, Neville was definitely the man you wanted to be around during an apocalypse. Any guy who is possibly the last man on Earth and can stay productive and buff is really the obvious choice! You could also sense the compassion drooling off of him by the way he cared for his dog, Marley, I mean it was his only friend during the zombie nightmare.

Fox Mulder, The X- Files. The X- Files was my go to show for Friday nights as an adolescent, it was enough drama with a whole lot of fear inducing moments! If you know me, then you know I love horrors, thrillers, and supernatural shows, movies and books which is why I love David Duchovny's character (Mulder). Mulder had beliefs that he strongly believed in and no one could take that away from him. Anyone who has the confidence and will to believe in something so firmly is attractive! Plus Mulder will always insure you that his dates will not be safe but very interesting and if you happen to run into aliens and Big Foot throughout the relationship, think of it as an added perk!

Dear readers, do you have a list of favorite fictional boyfriends? I'd love to hear your opinions!

Styld. By Gap

Last night was the premiere of Gap's Icon Redefined Collection for Autumn 2012, at 1510 Walnut Street, Philadelphia, PA. It was an event hosted by Laurie Trott, fashion director of WhoWhatWear. It was amazing to talk to an amazing and influential fashionista! There were drinks, food, a live DJ, 30% off discount, and fashion everywhere. They were even taking photos of everyone wearing denim for a chance to win a $200 Gap gift card! It's nice to attend event like this and network with other like- minded individuals, networking is something I need to work on more often.

Announcing winners of the $20 Gap gift cards. I love her metallic pumps!

For my outfit, I wanted to wear something that could easily be a transitional look into fall, since this was an event geared for that season. Denim and suede, two completely opposite materials, but such a great pairing. And of course, the ankle booties which is becoming my favorite shoe to wear with everything. I had this denim sash lying around and used it as a tie, it felt appropriate!

At the event, I met up with a fellow blogger and amiga, Chaucee of Streets and Stripes. Check her out, you won't be disappointed! Might I add that Gap really has improved it's collections. Gap was always the store to go to for basics, but now it's a go to for even more than that, you could even find a great outfit for a date night! Thumbs up to Gap!

My Birthday Surprise.

Recently, my BF surprised me with an early birthday present, this past wednesday. He kept telling me, "just dress casually, no heels please!" Ofcourse I was curious and antsy about what it could be.

I saw that he even made our dinner, packed it up in our retro colored cooler! I had no idea what was in store! We get to the destination, the Mann Center in Philadelphia and i've spotted a few people dressed as characters from my favorite, most beloved video game ever, The Legend of Zelda! That's when he tells me we're here to see a symphony of the franchise's music! Yes, I am a big video game aficionado, and the Zelda franchise tops it all for me! The event was to say the least, awesome! BF had prepared a three course meal, might I add he is an amazing cook! Appetizer, main course, and dessert, he even bought wine! The lawn seats were perfect for our little picnic! Unfortunately I didn't get any great shots of fans in cosplay, but I did find out that a college professor was in attendance, in full costume and a great one too. I feel like i've revealed too much of my nerdiness already!

Our "wine" glasses!

Our view from the lawn, the orchestra was still settling in.

As for what I'll be doing on my actual birthday (July 30), I'll be spending most of it styling a photo shoot for an upcoming magazine! And styling men, a first for me! After that, not sure where the day will take me.

There was an art show opening reception at a local cafe, where my lovely boyfriend was featured! It was the perfect opportunity to dress contemporary, trendy. Art events usually call for an eclectic crowd of people, so it's nice to show your personality through what you wear. I chose to wear this printed sheath dress, it's so fun and it called my inner bohemian! I paired it with this olive vest for more comfort, it was sure to be a chilly evening. The accessories help edge out the outfit!

I just had to throw a picture of my boyfriend. Styled by me!
