My Birthday Surprise.

Recently, my BF surprised me with an early birthday present, this past wednesday. He kept telling me, "just dress casually, no heels please!" Ofcourse I was curious and antsy about what it could be.

I saw that he even made our dinner, packed it up in our retro colored cooler! I had no idea what was in store! We get to the destination, the Mann Center in Philadelphia and i've spotted a few people dressed as characters from my favorite, most beloved video game ever, The Legend of Zelda! That's when he tells me we're here to see a symphony of the franchise's music! Yes, I am a big video game aficionado, and the Zelda franchise tops it all for me! The event was to say the least, awesome! BF had prepared a three course meal, might I add he is an amazing cook! Appetizer, main course, and dessert, he even bought wine! The lawn seats were perfect for our little picnic! Unfortunately I didn't get any great shots of fans in cosplay, but I did find out that a college professor was in attendance, in full costume and a great one too. I feel like i've revealed too much of my nerdiness already!

Our "wine" glasses!

Our view from the lawn, the orchestra was still settling in.

As for what I'll be doing on my actual birthday (July 30), I'll be spending most of it styling a photo shoot for an upcoming magazine! And styling men, a first for me! After that, not sure where the day will take me.

Sworn to fast with all my might

I've been listening to Little Dragon 24/7 recently. Her music is amazing, I discovered her back in the autumn of 2010 at the Gorillaz show. She was wearing an awesome sequin jacket that I have been coveting ever since! Actually she is known to dress super uniquely, i'd say Gwen Stefani meets Bjork? Anyways, you should give her music a listen, no matter what genre you favor!
So my birthday is coming up soon (eeeep!) and lately my BF has been acting strange, ducking and hiding things. I'm usually very nosey, but lately i've kind of grown out of that and just let things be. All I know is part of the birthday surprise will be revealed tonight and i'm really excited about it!
Also, my lovely buddy, Chaucee did a fantastic interview write up about me! Check it out at Streets and Stripes! She's one of my daily reads!

Fashion Show Recap

This past Saturday, 7.21.12, I was styling and helping out for yet another fashion show with Caramente Clothing. It was filled with joy, anticipation, excitement and tears. Yes, tears! Well that's mostly because of me, someone (rat- bastard!) had swiped my beloved phone. My phone and I were BFFs, yes it's that serious, i'm sure all of you iPhone owners understand what I mean by that! Anyways, before I get too deep into that, i'll continue with the show. The venue was bigger, there were more models, designers, and clothes. It was a beautiful mayhem backstage.

Here's what I wore on Saturday!

Dress: Sugarlips Apparel, Blouse: Forever21, Belt: J.Crew, Wedges: Steve Madden via Shoemint, Headband: UrbanOutfitters

I love the simplicity of a black and white outfit! There's so many colors and prints to layer with it to take it from A to Z in seconds! I love layer dresses, and the weather this past Saturday was perfect for it! I'm a big fan of re wearing my dresses, it's the way you style it that can make it look like a completely different dress. I love me some leopard print, and I wanted to wear some comfortable wedges that would get me through the day.  There you have it, that was my Saturday, how was yours?

                                                                                             Xoxo,

"Im Sexy and I Know It" LMAFO

When it comes to dressing sexy, it's a bit of a different aesthetic for me. Sexy to me is not about how much cleavage i need to show off or how much leg action needs to be seen. I would much rather see a  figure shown off in a full length, crew neck, body con dress.
No, it has nothing to do with my body, it has to do with my level of comfort, I'm not comfortable wearing a super short dress, where the hem is inches away from my crotch. Or a dress with a super low cut, and have men's eyes fall below my eyes during 95% of the conversation.

Top: Threadsence.com, Skirt: Shopakira.com, Jacket: Forever21, Belt: Oldnavy, Shoes and jewelry: thrifted

With this look, i wanted to be sexy in my own way. Can I just say, this citron color has my heart! This peplum skirt is awesome, it's high waisted and fits my body like a glove. I have a tendency to wear a lot of high waisted skirts, pants, and jeans with cropped tops, it shows just the right amount of skin! The jacket topped it off by giving it an edgy flair, to contrast the feminine silhouette of the peplum skirt and the ever so glamorous pointy toe pumps. How do you like to dress "sexy?"

                                                             Xoxo,

Backstage with the Craziness.

The fashion show went on with a blast! It totally rocked the venue. It's funny because days and hours before the show, there was a ton of tension and anxiety, models that agreed to do the show and then didn't show up, phone calls and texts from an angry designer, and models that didn't fit the clothes! It's been a headache of a roller coaster, but I have to admit, I loved every bit of it! It was hosted by VH1's vj, Mama Jones. Warning, this post will be photo heavy!

Unfortunately, I was not able to take photos of the Caramente Clothing segment because I was preparing models right before they walked. I'll try to next show! Here's a few pictures of my outfit that night.

I seriously love this dress! I can not wait to layer it into transition to the cooler months, with sweaters over top of it or blouses underneath it. Comfortable and unique, is pretty much what you will get from Threadsence. It's my latest addiction! I hope you enjoyed this craziness!
