Be Bold.

Top and shorts: Forever21, Shoes: Bakers, Jewelry: H&M, Forever21

I absolutely love bold prints and bright colors! This outfit totally reminds me of Betsey Johnson and her vibrant ensembles.

Shoe Necessity.

Picture this, you put on the hottest outfit for a night out with your girls. It's perfect, from head to..... you get to your feet and remember that you didn't exactly choose what shoes to go with the outfit. Yes I have been in this situation. Fear not, I have found that there's always a solution especially when it comes to fashion! Nude colored shoes are definitely the answer. Nude shoes are great because they give the illusion of longer, lengthened legs. Perfect match for any color, print, and texture. Nude is considered a neutral, which is why they look great with everything and anything! They're also great year round. Plus, they come in a variety of styles, the classic pump, strappy wedges, architectural oxford style shoes and some even have color blocking or patterned accents. This is truly a must have, for any fashionista's closet!

                                                                                                                                         Xoxo,
                                                                                                                                             Jacqui

Closet Cravings.

I attended an event recently, Skai Blue Media Showcase, where I saw some beautiful fashion designs, from local Philadelphia designers. It was a showroom event with exquisitely picked work. I loved all of the designs that were featured but my absolute favorite were from Marina Makaron.
Her designs were bright and in your face, patterned! Both combinations which I truly do adore! Crafted with silk, in tunic dress form, I could totally see myself wearing it to cocktail hour or a night out with the girls! There was also a longer length dress that was featured, it had a very "goddess" look, a modest plunged neckline, with draping sleeves. Excuse my drooling! I love that she plays with ethnic prints in a wide array of colors, Makaron makes the ultimate statement pieces. Here's a few drool- worthy pictures! Make sure to check out the collection on her site, I promise you'll love it as much as I do!

Fashion Staple

top and belt: Forever21, trousers: Gap, shoes: Zara, jewelry: Forever21, H&M

Growing up, I've been known to wear trousers and pants all the time. Then the one day I show up in jeans, everyone wonders who kidnapped my body?! I blame my love for trousers on my mama, she always dressed my brother and I in the preppiest of outfits. Trousers, dress pants, whatever you want to call them, are such a staple to any one's closet because they look great for any occasion! One of my favorite examples, the beautiful, Audrey Hepburn was known to wear trousers many times, she usually paired hers with her trademark flats.

What I love most about trousers is not just that they are comfortable, but also very versatile. They give you the option of wearing it dressed up or down. I like to have fun with my trousers, cuffing it up, pairing it with a band tee, wearing it with tops that have bold patterns or even a fun corset top. They are also a great staple for the summer months too, since you can find pairs in lighter, airy materials such as linen. And there is so many styles to choose from, wide legged, tapered, staight, skinny, cigarette style, high waisted. So many endless possibilites! There are a lot of places to get a great pair of trousers, but my tried and true pairs are usually from J.crew, Zara, and Gap. Trousers are not just for interviews or stuffy offices, they are  for every situation, trust me I live in my pairs!

One of the most popular patterns to reoccur this season are stripes. Vertical or horizontal, to striped blouses and striped pants, it is definitely a mainstay! One of the funkier ways of wearing it would be to wear it vertically and horizontal or small stripes with big stripes. One of my favorite ways to wear it, is by pairing stripes of different colors. Which ever way you wear your stripes just have fun with it and try it unconventionally!

Ps: I've recently discovered this really cool site that features a lot of independent and up and coming designers called Bloggers Wardrobe. It may seem like an online look book at first, but it's a actually a community for bloggers and designers. One of my favorite brands featured on the site is Tigers of Sweden, it's very feminine with a touch of bohemia added to the mix, love it!

A Touch of Blue.

Jacket: H&M, Top:Asos, Trousers: J.Crew, Wedges: Zara, Jewelry: Thrifted

I really love the effect that one bold color can make on a palette of a different color. That's why color blocking is one of my favorite trends! It's definitely a trend for the daring and those not afraid of pairing some unlikely colors. Btw, these wedges are one of the most comfortable pairs I've ever worn! Happy color blocking!

Fabric of the Season.

This season I'm noticing more and more stores with chiffon and chiffon like tops, dresses, skirts and even pants. It's perfect for the warmer months, airy, lightweight, and super comfortable. Its also very functional. Since it's sheer you can vary the options of what you want to pair it with. You can try a basic tank top or camisole, or my favorite choice for summer music festivals, bandeaus! You can also have fun with the color choices, bold neons and prints, or nudes and neutrals. Anyway you choose to wear it will be great! This trend proves to be a great and functional piece for any fashion maven's closet.

When a girl says she doesn't like getting flowers, she's not being honest! I love flowers and floral printed anything, even in the dreary, rainy weather in this part of the north east!

One of my all time favorite accessories, has to be turquoise jewelry. It has to power to match with most things, no matter if the item calls for silver or gold accents. I have this turquoise amulet, which I wear with everything and anything! I think if you're having trouble trying to match accessories to your outfits this summer, this is the trend to try combine it with. It's an easy complimentary piece and looks good on anyone.

Professional Summer Dressing.

As if getting dressed for an interview wasn't already difficult enough, during the warmer months it seems like even more of a hassle! I think the key point is to remember to be comfortable. The other factors are whether or not it will be a conservative type of interview, or creative type of interview.  Also, I always try to figure out before hand what the dress code is and try to assimilate to that. Once you figure this out, the outfit choice should be easy.

If the interview is for a more conservative job, then the goal would be to put together something polished that emphasizes your professionalism. In most cases, this means sticking to neutrals, blacks, grays, and navy. Closed toe heels are a must, structured bag to hold your portfolio/ resume in, and hems that fit you flawlessly. I think that for warmer weather, trying a suit that consists with shorts would be a great idea, just make sure the shorts are not too short! You could also try throwing on a pair of black sheer tights, under the shorts if you feel the need to, and it would still look great.

If the interview s for a creative job, the the goal would be to put together an outfit that communicates a classical element with a personal touch. The wardrobe choice can be less formal, but that does not mean show up in a band tee and flip flops! These types of interviews are more of a challenge because you want to look sharp, but in the same way look creative. Playing with accessories is a must, and so is playing with prints and colors. Open toed shoes are great and fun, printed bags, that are, still, big enough for your portfolio. The options are limitless! A great trend to try would be a printed pant suit or skirt suit, in linen form. Very breathable and comfortable for warm weather.

I believe that if you feel like you are overdressed for an interview, that is a good thing, even a sign of respect, something that any potential employer will recognize.

Underrated Wardrobe Pieces.

Top: Gap, Sweater: Thrifted, Jeans: Forever21, Hat and jewelry: Forever21

One of the most underrated items in most of our closets are hats. They get get shoved into a deep, dark corner never to be seen until the annual closet clean up! Right now a big trend this season is the straw hats. I love this trend, not only is it fashionably chic but also good for protecting the delicate skin on our faces and our lovely locks! I'll admit, I used to be afraid of wearing hats, mostly because of my big hair, but honestly big hair or not, hats look good on anyone! Go out and try a straw fedora or a wide brimmed straw hat, it might just be the one major accessory for you this summer!
