A Menu For Your Skin

Illustrated By Jacqueline Davis Moranti

Most of us know, to have a flawless complexion we need to have a skincare regimen for day and night. For me, it's essential to have a regimented routine especially because many of my family members suffer from adult acne. Sometimes we get lazy and use a makeup wipe or a facial wash without correctly removing the makeup from our skin, been there- done that! Sorry ladies and gents, but in order to have firm and glowing skin we need a little more than a wipe. Here is a menu of skincare needs to incorporate into our day and night skincare routine especially now that that the weather is getting significantly cooler!

The first step is to determine your skin type. It's crucial to know this information so that you don't have to suffer through wrong products. One can have normal, dry, oily or combination skin like me. You may also have sensitive skin, which is highly suggested to reading what is inside each product you purchase to know what ingredients not to use. Also everyone should definitely have different routines for day and night. Yes, that's crucial! Here's a product menu I've developed with some of my friends and family to help anyone be able to determine their routine.....

Normal skin is neither oily or dry. You do not have sensitive skin and are not suffering from anti-aging or acne. You know, aka everyone's dream skin type! Here are some essential needs for your skincare routine.

Morning Skincare Needs:
-Cleanser

-Toner

-Moisturizer with SPF

Nighttime Skincare Needs:
-Cleanser

-Toner

-Antioxidant Serum

-Moisturizer

For the ladies and gents that suffer from dry skin, hydration is the number one solution. Having dry skin often means the skin is thirsty, so products with moisture are going to be your skin's best friend. Products rich in Hylauronic Acid and Vitamin E help with this skin type.

Morning Skincare Needs:
-Cleansing Lotion

-Toner

-Antioxidant Serum

Moisturizer with SPF

Nighttime Skincare Needs:
-Cleansing Lotion

-Toner Retinol Serum

-Eye Cream

-Hydrating Moisturizer

For those within the oily crew, oily skin is a result of your skin having larger oil glands, basically built-in oil. The goal for this skin type is to lessen the oil activity by using products that are less hydrating to balance the oiliness.

Morning Skincare Needs:
-Cleansing Gel

-Toner

-Antioxidant Serum

-Zinc Oxide Sunscreen

Nighttime Skincare Needs:
-Cleansing Gel

-Toner

-AHA/BHA Serum

-Oil-Free Moisturizer

Lastly, but certainly not least, are those with combination skin. This skin type has skin that is oily in some areas and dry in others. The overall goal is to find a happy medium between the two.

Morning Skincare Needs:
-Cleansing Gel

-Toner

-Lightweight Moisturizer

-Zinc Oxide Sunscreen

Nighttime Skincare Needs:
-Cleansing Gel

-Toner

-AHA/ BHA Serum

-Retinol Serum

-Lightweight Moisturizer

Hopefully, this guide will help you get the smooth complexion that many, if not all, desire! It definitely pays off when you can walk outside your home and be seen in public with absolutely no makeup on! It's a goal i'm working towards! Dear readers, what does your skincare menu look like?
