City Chic

Fall is in the air, the winds are whippier, the leaves are brown, the scent is crisper, it's a beautiful time to be outside. With the change of the season comes a change in my wardrobe. I put away all of the light chiffon blouses, put away all of the slinky dresses, put away anything linen and replace everything with heavier textures and bolder colors. It's not necessary to do so, but it is very pleasing to the eye to see similar colors of your environment in your wardrobe. Black is easy, black is forgiving, black is always my first option. I'm challenging myself to mix it up a bit and break out of my demure instincts with adding some vibrant colors and prints. Boisterous was my result!

I was channeling my inner Cher Horowitz with this look, cropped sweater, high waisted skirt and tall socks, major nostalgia! Having fun with hemlines before the temperatures dip really low. My closet consists of 90% black pieces and matching it up with other colors is slim to none since I cleared out most colors from it several months ago. Keeping things neutral helps me also keep things timeless which is something I wholeheartedly "preach" to all of my friends. It's the most cost effective way of shopping, think about it this way... Pull out the first thing in your closet and ask yourself whether or not you'll still be wearing it in 10 years. That's how I shop!

My biggest challenge will be accepting a little bit of color in to my wardrobe, but as long as I contemplate quality over quantity I should be able to handle it. Time is of the essence and your clothes should be too! Dear readers, what kind of mentality do you have while you shop? Timeless over trendy or vice versa?
