Retro

Photos by the awesome Kevin Smith
Like everyone else, I have a penchant for new, shiny and often, the latest.  While it's nice to have what's current, sometimes older pieces and garments are what's better for our wardrobes. Style revivals happen every few seasons, which means something you wore adored all the time, five years ago, will come back in style to be the hottest and trendiest thing on the market! I'm not the best at vintage shopping, but when I do find something, it's a total score!

Beauty Bit, Dessange

Illustrated by Jacqueline Davis Moranti
It's natural for us to use products in our hair, from pomades to styling creams and zillions of oils. Bad hair days seem to disappear as soon as we layer on the gunk! I'll admit that I've succumbed to that, with natural hair, frizz is inevitable but the use of styling creams and oils help out a lot but it can build up on my scalp and wreak havoc if i'm not careful. Fortunately, I've found something to combat that problem, Dessange Paris Purifying Clay Collection.

Fashion Hack

A few weeks ago, I met an amazing fashion designer in Philly that creates wearable tech fashion designs, Leslie Birch. Leslie's inspirations sparked from a technical festival she attended years ago in New York, Wired NextFest. From that point on, she knew she found her true calling. What's inspiring and refreshing about Leslie, is that she's pushing to see more women in the tech world. With the tech and programming industry becoming increasingly popular, it only makes sense for more women to dominate it, right?

Stardust Uniform

I recently attended an event for the third year celebration of Stardust Magazine. As some of you might remember, I used to intern for Stardust in the early days of Burgundy Whispers as a fashion coordinator and stylist. In those days, you could always find me running around and trying to keep things organized. I may have been frantic but the end results were always wonderful, when the latest issues were revealed to the public. Such gratification, and now that the magazine is in it's third year, I couldn't be happier, even if i'm not a part of the process!

Finding Your Size

I love online shopping, no need to wait in lines, no need to argue with other enthusiasts over the last pair, and best of all, you don't need to dress up because you're in the comforts of your own home! If you're like me, then you hate having to do returns. I make sure to avoid that by keeping a measuring tape within reach and reading the fine print of the fit details to know what to look for. I used to wonder if there was an easier way to go about that method, that's where True Fit comes in!

The Naked Truth

Illustrated by Jacqueline Davis Moranti

As a vertically challenged person (read 5'4), I'm constantly on the look out for ways to elongate my figure. From wearing high waisted bottoms to wearing belts at the middle of my waist and even wearing midi skirts. The challenge is on, even if I never find the solution but this time I think I have! Nude shoes might seem a bit blasé but really, this important piece of our wardrobe never goes out of style and goes with everything!

The Roundup

Illustrated by Jacqueline Davis Moranti

It's about that time when most of the fashion week shows from around the world start to wrap up and wind down until next year. Watching fashion shows is definitely one of my favorite past times, it's like watching fashion get reborn and take on different looks. The fashion weeks is what determines what we, the consumer will see on the racks and shelves of our local malls to add to our wardrobes. From NYC to London, Paris to Milan, fashion is universal and relatable to all. I've picked out some of my favorite shows from this past fashion season

House of Couture

In fashion there are movers and shakers from all sorts of realms. You have designers that have struggled to get to where they are, artists that have had to overcome some major obstacles and influencers fighting to be heard. Very rarely do you come across fashion addicted individuals that want something more than fashion, more than just garments worn on their bodies. Fashionista and philanthropist, Joy Bianchi, can often be found dressed to the nines at galas and events throughout the San Fransisco area but her admiration for fashion and style is not a mere superficial endeavor. Bianchi is directly connected in her desire to help people.
