The Roundup

Illustrated by Jacqueline Davis Moranti

It's about that time when most of the fashion week shows from around the world start to wrap up and wind down until next year. Watching fashion shows is definitely one of my favorite past times, it's like watching fashion get reborn and take on different looks. The fashion weeks is what determines what we, the consumer will see on the racks and shelves of our local malls to add to our wardrobes. From NYC to London, Paris to Milan, fashion is universal and relatable to all. I've picked out some of my favorite shows from this past fashion season

I like to be my own trendsetter or at least, I like to consider myself pretty unique in my taste but I'll admit that sometimes a little inspiration can draw the right results. Every Fall season when NYFW arrives, I take that opportunity to study the new trends and see how I can incorporate it into my style. This season's Spring/ Summer 2016 collections does just that with it's many wonderful layers.
Marc Jacobs' RTW SS16 was all about the red, white and blue, but not in the Americana way you may be thinking. It was very old timey movies themed, with bellboys handing out popcorn for the spectators to nibble on while watching the show (of the catwalk variety, that is).  The silhouettes were abundant from gowns to cowboy boots, it was all over the place! The key component to tie it all together was color palette and the feel of watching American fashion in it's earliest. This is a different step for Marc Jacobs than I have ever seen, it's not as tame and that's what made it inspiring for me.
I will always have an inane affection for Calvin Klein, I blame it on their amazing underwear line! Just as great as their unmentionables, their RTW SS16 collection. Minimalism at it's purest and best. Light layers with raw hems, wispy slips, sequins and floral prints, oh my! Definitely warm weather ready with this collection, I think my favorite pieces are the white silk slips and the silk trousers, so many ways to wear them the possibilities are endless!
The bolder the better I always say when it comes to style, Anya Hindmarch's RTW SS16 collection is it! Emblazoned shapes in audacious colors against a white canvas, kaleidoscopic shapes in mirrored images capture the essence of London Fashion Week's high street wear. I can just imagine all the fun around styling the unitard piece with my wardrobe!

I absolutely love cocktail dresses and gowns, they always give me a reason for fancy soirees! Marchesa's RTW SS16 premiered with quite a bang. Long, lacy gowns in asymmetrical shapes, mesh inserts, cap sleeves, tulle, ruffles and the list of words to describe this fantastic show can seriously go on! I don't believe that anyone can go wrong with any of the pieces in this collection , but my personal favorite, the black maxi dress with the plunging neckline! So elegant, so chic, subtly sexy, and so perfect in my arsenal of gowns!

The style lessons I've learned from this year's Spring/ Summer fashion shows is that cajolery can be enthralled into a wearable vision of perfection! All of the collections mentioned have pieces that can be blended in with different wardrobes quite easily and seamlessly. Fashion is fun, fashion is beautiful and fashion is for everyone! Dear readers, I'd love to hear what your favorite shows and garments from the Recent Spring/ Summer 2016 shows were.
