Personal Essay #4

I've thought long and hard for a beautiful and witty poem to describe my deep affection with my favorite season of the year, Summer. But I had to throw the bucket in and admit that it just wasn't happening! I could tell you about the starlit night skies and fireflies buzzing by your face. I could also tell you about the sound of the ice cream truck driving down a city neighborhood, with little children eager to pick their flavor, or the ecstatic screams of adrenaline junkies on rollercoasters. Best of all, it's just summer time fun!

Longer days and shorter nights, make it easier to get more things done before dusk hits, summer tends to make me more efficient but it also gives me feelings of nostalgia. Gone are the cool nights in which a cardigan brought you warmth, replaced with moist air and a paper fan at hand. From perennials to petunias, and daisies to sunflowers it's a garden galore all summer long. Colors are abundant in the garden and also on our friends and family. Never did I ever see such vividly colored pants and dresses like I have, during this season of color. I'm inclined to add more color to my otherwise neutral palette, same goes for makeup.
Summer is the season to try new things and let go of old ones, it's the middle of the year, from June- September. Not to mention my favorite month of July. Yes it's my birth month but it's so much more to me, from independence day to vacation days, sunny days to the sudden rain storm evenings. Muggy or not, Summer is just plain beautiful. When Winter comes, Mother Nature will have won again.
