Tastemakers, Nicole Richie

Illustrated by Jacqueline Davis Moranti

Many of you may remember her for her role in the early reality show, The Simple Life. For me, Nicole Richie really shined through with her introduction of House of Harlow 1960, in 2008. It was her love for bohemian styled, costume jewelry that caught my attention and her effortless way of dressing like more than a socialite.

Reality stars have a tendency for dressing differently on screen and offscreen, as if they have two different personalities. Richie stays true to her style, boho- glam all the way. Paisley, laidback denim, billowing tunics and shirts, maxi dresses, the common uniform for a free spirited dresser but Richie adds a twist to it by throwing in pointed toe pumps, midi skirts, oversized blazers and much more elegance!

House of Harlow 1960, the label named after miss Richie's daughter, was inspired by the costume designer of her father's tours. The line started out with gorgeous gold plated jewels, oversized sunglasses and handbags and then expanded to shoes and apparel. I am constantly blown away by how beautiful the relatively new brand does each season. It never disappoints!
This fashionable socialite also puts her foot down for UNICEF by fundraising for clean water for villages in third world countries and providing shelter for the children in need. Fashion designer, mother, entreprenaur, humanitarian... the list can go on for Nicole Richie! This lady does it all while looking great, which makes for a fantastic tastemaker!
