Holiday Outfitting 1

Photos by the awesome Kevin Smith

We are well under way into the holiday season, gift shopping, gift wrapping, tree picking, caroling with our neighbors, egg nogging and decorating our homes have become the norm for our everyday routines. The other duty, holiday parties and many of them are mandatory either by your bosses or family. As if busy bees need another thing to think about, holiday outfits! Picking out your festive outfit can be difficult especially if all you see available is a sequin dress or red/green outfits, holiday outfitting does not have to be so obvious and redundant. Your holiday ensemble can represent you, in a slightly more obnoxious way! Toppers (coats/jackets) are also an important feature to the overall look, it's the first and last thing people see on you, why not make a dazzling impression?! Fortunately, Primark has you covered, literally!

#GetLucky Party

Some of you may remember my recent post about Aoki Boutique in Philadelphia hosting a summer kickoff event! It was a night filled with live music, Spodee wine, fashion and shopping of course! It was one of those hot and humid summer nights, I chose to beat the heat in my neon crop top! I love pairing crop tops with high waisted bottoms, it just has a very retro vibe to it. Plus, this makes wearing a cropped top less scandalous

The hashtag for the night was #getlucky, referring to the contest drawing to win a hot commodity necklace! The party was fun, I love that I was able to connect with people I haven't seen in a while and honestly that's the best part of these events, networking. Mingling with a slew of creative and talented individuals really excites me! Dear readers, how do you like to meet new people? How fond are you with networking? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Shine Bright Like A Diamond

Overcoat: J.Crew, blouse: Threadsence, skirt: Club Monaco, tights: American Apparel pumps: Forever21

I'm all about standing out, and one of the best ways to do so is with sequins! This sequin skirt in particular is a nice light color, so I can get away with wearing it during the day, throughout the year. Sequin skirts with one metallic color, or a dark color tend to feel very New Years Eve (This was actually my NYE outfit) thus making it harder to wear on a normal basis. Actually, I have seen black matte sequin pieces, in black that look great for daytime wear too.
I love to play with textures, felt like a great mix to pair the lace top with this skirt! One of this upcoming Spring season trend will be the texture blocking, as seen on Ralph Lauren's and Roberto Cavalli's Spring/Summer 2013 collection. It will be in full effect this season, over its better known half, color blocking.

Dear readers, do you dare wear sequins after the holidays? How would you pull it off?

"Im Sexy and I Know It" LMAFO

When it comes to dressing sexy, it's a bit of a different aesthetic for me. Sexy to me is not about how much cleavage i need to show off or how much leg action needs to be seen. I would much rather see a  figure shown off in a full length, crew neck, body con dress.
No, it has nothing to do with my body, it has to do with my level of comfort, I'm not comfortable wearing a super short dress, where the hem is inches away from my crotch. Or a dress with a super low cut, and have men's eyes fall below my eyes during 95% of the conversation.

With this look, i wanted to be sexy in my own way. Can I just say, this citron color has my heart! This peplum skirt is awesome, it's high waisted and fits my body like a glove. I have a tendency to wear a lot of high waisted skirts, pants, and jeans with cropped tops, it shows just the right amount of skin! The jacket topped it off by giving it an edgy flair, to contrast the feminine silhouette of the peplum skirt and the ever so glamorous pointy toe pumps. How do you like to dress "sexy?"

Backstage with the Craziness.

The fashion show went on with a blast! It totally rocked the venue. It's funny because days and hours before the show, there was a ton of tension and anxiety, models that agreed to do the show and then didn't show up, phone calls and texts from an angry designer, and models that didn't fit the clothes! It's been a headache of a roller coaster, but I have to admit, I loved every bit of it! It was hosted by VH1's vj, Mama Jones. Warning, this post will be photo heavy!

Unfortunately, I was not able to take photos of the Caramente Clothing segment because I was preparing models right before they walked. I'll try to next show! Here's a few pictures of my outfit that night.

I seriously love this dress! I can not wait to layer it into transition to the cooler months, with sweaters over top of it or blouses underneath it. Comfortable and unique, is pretty much what you will get from Threadsence. It's my latest addiction! I hope you enjoyed this craziness!
