Fall 2024 Lookbook: Autumnal Color Theory

At the dawn of a new season, there's always those few days or even weeks in which it's a bit cold at times and then the temperatures suddenly rise throughout the day. That's exactly how the Fall season is here in the northeastern states! I would much rather prefer the days stay warmer than colder but that's not being realistic. On days like such, I try to layer smartly, my secret to staying cool and warm is simply a vest! It's a piece that's often overlooked but essential to all of our closets.

Print Persuasion

I recently attended a wedding, and believe me when I say I totally understand the frustration with picking an outfit to wear that's appropriate and yet still exude your style personality! In my case, it's eccentricity! When you go to a wedding you don't want to outshine the most important person there on her special day, the bride. The only thing with that is if you're like me, you like to dress over the top and extravagant, it's in my nature! I chose to go with this outfit because it  felt very "Me"and loud without too much outshining capabilities. If it wasn't this look it would have been something that showed some midriff action and I don't think that would have gone too well with the family! Yes this outfit has some white in it but the other colors over power it so that it fits in the rules of wedding wear. Plus who doesn't love a little peplum!?

My favorite part about this outfit is that it's actually two pieces, when combined together it looks like a whole dress. I love pieces with functional versatility! Print on print action, my favorite way to wear prints! This way i'm not stuck with a dress i'll only wear a few times a year.

Lemon Zest

One of my favorite colors to wear lately has been the neon yellow color, lemon zest! Growing up I actually despised wearing neon colors, I just didn't understand why anyone wanted to look like a giant glow stick! Although, now if you were to look at my wardrobe, you wouldn't believe that last statement! I've realized that yellows tend to look amazing on olive skin tones and darker, and to think it all started with a lemon zest colored scarf!

This fantastic dress is from the amazing site, Eshakti. Eshakti brings the customization and tailoring to your home, never again will you have to worry about whether or not the bodice of your dress is too tight or if the hem is too short. It's pretty amazing, especially if your vertically challenged! Eshakti literally embraces every woman's body and style. I'm absolutely in love with this dress, i'm already looking forward to having fun layering it in the fall and winter season!

Neon Yellow

Turtleneck Weather

I don't know about you, but here in Philadelphia, it's been freezing cold! So cold that it feels like your bones are rattling! In this weather, layering is key to beat the hum drum of the wind chills. One of my favorite pieces to wear in the winter is definitely a turtleneck. Being able to cover up every inch of exposed skin usually helps me get over this wintery weather! 

Besides wearing turtlenecks, I'm all about great outerwear. This one for example is one of my favorites, it reminds me of a Helmut Lang jacket with it's asymmetrical hemline and unbalanced structure. The best thing about it, is that it does not come with a Helmut Lang price tag! You can find this great wardrobe staple at Kembrel. It looks great with everything, believe me, it's not easy to find a coat that works with 90% of your wardrobe!

Sweatshirt Redefined

Lately there's been a lot of talk about wearing sweatshirts. I know, sounds a bit farfetched to wear your workout clothes in public and in a fashionable way. Well, i'm not talking about what you would wear to break out in a sweat, im talking about it's fashionable little sister! Who wouldn't want comfort and style all in one piece?

This sweatshirt in particular is a lot of fun! It has a black, faux fur body and black sleeves. It's as comfortable as a Northface fleece, which is perfect for this frigid, negative 1000 degree weather here, in the North East. Now I just need to find a pair of acceptable sweatpants to wear outside!

A Blogger's Retreat

I recently attended an amazing event that was held at one of the coolest places in Philadelphia, URBN Headquarters. Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, Free People, and Terrain are all centered at the industrial Naval Yard in South Philadelphia. It was a day filled with bloggers, [the best] vegan cookies, fashion, and networking!
The event was held at building 543, the meeting place, cafeteria, mailroom and just main community area for all the URBN buildings. Being at this building brought back so many memories of being in college. Designers working in their cubicles, eating at a cafeteria with your buddies and riding a bus specifically to your workplace. It was just so amazing! The blogger event was held by one of the Free People blog's writer, Shani, she knows exactly all there is to know about the blogging business! The day was filled with SEO technicalities, photography editing, how to be a social media maven, and blogging 101!
It was very cool to meet the ladies behind the Free People blog. You could hear the passion in their voices as they spoke about blogging for Free People. I love listening to people talk about blogging as more than just a hobby because that is exactly how I feel about it! They also took us on a tour to see the Free People building, BLDG 25. One word, inspirational! Everything from the decor to their desks was spewing creativity, it was just my kind of vibe. Everyone I met that day was so happy, perky and bubbly!

All in all, great event! Getting to see the home office of one of my favorite brands has been on my bucket list for a long time. That's one to scratch off the list and many more to go! Plus the relationships built that day are unforgettable, met one of my favorite Philly bloggers and a handful of new and interesting ones too. Thank you Free People! 

Unconventional Holiday Stripes

Rather than donning the usual plaid or cashmere knits, why not try some leather and some stripes?!

Try keeping the look pg-13 by keeping the leather to a minimum of one piece. You don't want to come off as a "dominatrix" especially if you'll be around family! This leather skirt was a great find, it's high waisted and it hits at mid calf. It's also very comfortable, not as stiff as other pencil leather skirts.
Add stripes with burgundy and your good to go to any festive event!

Starving Artist?

Until recently, the saying, "keep it simple, " didn't mean much more to me than what it obviously states.  You know how nowadays everyone is hopping on the bandwagon of the latest diet craze? Yes, I too have been vulnerable to juicing, cleansing, low carbs, gluten free, low calories, fasting, ugh it's crazy what we, as humans do to loose weight!
Guess what, I lost weight with out even worrying about it. I kept it simple by exercising, I love my pilates, and eating satiable portions.... Well, that's debatable since i've honestly been too busy to eat as much as I was used to. That's actually the secret, being a busy bee! Sounds great, right? The only thing is, now I need to seriously update my bottoms wardrobe! My credit card is going to burn! Anyone looking for a new pair of jeans? I have plenty!
