The summer season is the best time of the year to bring out your fun floral and tropical prints. Bright and fun patterns help to compensate for the insanely high temperatures, it helps to aid your mind wander away from thinking about how warm and humid it actually is. Even if it's only for five minutes! Another way I like to beat the heat, is by wearing crop tops, why wear a full shirt when you can wear half of one, in 90 degree weather?!

Tastemakers, Lucille Ball

Saturday mornings for many kids probably meant Saturday morning cartoons, for me it was a bit different. Instead of watching cartoons, I was all about watching sitcoms, I loved a good laugh! One of the most memorable shows I remember watching was I Love Lucy. To me that show was all that, I made sure I was always on time to catch the latest rerun. My parents actually thought it was strange that rather than watching cartoons, I was more prone to watching TVLand. I mean what other 6 year old do you know that would turn down some Looney Tunes or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?!
I Love Lucy never failed to deliver, it was hilarious, Lucy's gorgeous wardrobe was always beautiful and she was one of the most influential women on TV, in her time. Not only was she the first woman in television to be the head of a production company but she was also one of the first to publicize interracial relationships to the american television set. Lucy, who was an all american, red head and her on screen/ off screen, Cuban husband, Desi Arnaz, were the power couple. I think it's truly amazing that one person was able to defy that, in a time when that was really frowned upon.
Lucy's fashion was a mixture of retro-glam housewife with a pinch of nautical prepster. All fantastic combinations. She was truly a stunner, on screen and off.

For women's history month, Lucille Ball is no doubt one of the women I most admire. She was ofcourse this fashionable bombshell who was able to keep things real and humorous for all. Not only that, she was a philanthropist for women in television and for many couples across America. That is why I consider her a Tastemaker!
