Mothers

Illustrated By Jacqueline Davis Moranti

It hasn't been until recently that I started realizing how important family is. For me as a woman of South American descent, most of my family unfortunately do not live in the same country. As a kid I always wondered why my family's reunions were always so small and then going to friends' family reunions were such a big difference. Growing up in the Dominican culture taught me a lot, especially about mothers. As I've grown older, I've come to understand my mother so much more and vice versa. The way a family grows stronger with time, it is a beautiful way of blooming. My mother is inevitably getting older, even though her spirit is so young that she may seem not much older than myself! I know time flies and I want to make the most of the time that I have with her, she is in fact, my favorite person. And I owe so much of who I am to her. As an adult, I want to give her everything. Even more than what she has given me. Because she definitely deserves it. My family life is a unique experience, and I feel blessed to say that it is mine.

Mother's day is May 12th which is right around the corner! This can only mean one thing, a shopping trip and what better way than to check out Macy's new Backstage department. I've been to plenty of Macy's before but this would be my first time checking out their Backstage area, which is their outlet store section. Savings is the name of the game and Macy's Backstage helps keep me within budget!

As soon as I got to my local Backstage location, I walked by the beauty and skincare area and was immediately drawn. So many options from Peter Thomas Roth, Aveeno, and Nyx Cosmetics to name a few! There were also a ton of obscure brands which in my opinion are the best! You never know what hidden gem you may find. What better way to show mother love than to create a self care kit? My mother is an entrepreneur with her own business to manage which I know can be overwhelming for her. This self care kit will do justice!

I picked up various face masks that come in sheet form and creams, foot scrubs, exfoliators, body lotions, gifts sets and baskets to store your items in and create a cute presentation! I even found some great home finds such as duvets, candles, prints, kitchenware, etc.

All in all, Macy's Backstage area is pretty great if you're a regular Macy's shopper but want to find more deals. Backstage is also most likely, conveniently located in your local Macy's as well, making it much easier to shop! To all of my last minute shoppers get going to your local Macy's Backstage and also enter to win a $150 gift card for Macy's Backstage!
