Safety Measures

Illustrated by Jacqueline Davis Moranti

I'm a suburbs girl, I've spent most of my youth living outside of Philadelphia. The part of town in which you need to drive to the nearest plaza or mall to fetch your goods and have a yard big enough for a pool or two! It was what I was used to and accustomed to. So much naivety stems from this sort of lifestyle, I love my parents and family for shielding me but upon entering adulthood and moving into my own nest, in the city, I noticed a stark difference. Imagine living in a world where we didn't have to look behind us when we walked down the street or put a club on the steering wheel of your car. Not to make the adult world sound dire and scary but there are people out there that want to cause harm and we have to protect ourselves and find ways to prevent them from happening. Not living with the family meant adjusting to these new differences and coping with reality, from boxing lessons to traveling with friends but I always felt like I needed something else too. I've recently been using the solution for my woes with Wearsafe.

Aside from preparing yourself with moves that would make Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee jealous, Wearsafe makes safety much more convenient and easy to achieve. I wear my Wearsafe Tag either clipped on my waist or bag and with the press of your Tag your network is alerted. Your network can be your family, your friends, coworkers, whoever you decide to be notified of your situation. The Wearsafe Tag also records 60 seconds of audio right before you press it and sends it to the network. What an ingenious little button!

The only challenge left to figure out with the Wearsafe Tag is figuring out who to add to your networks and making sure that they get your alert to sign up and download the app. If they don't download the app, the whole point of the Tag is moot. Fortunately, my family understood what I was trying to set up!

My early morning jogs and weekend hikes feel much safer, no need to worry about unexpected injuries or feeling sketched out. It also gives you a sense of independence since you don't have to bother your girlfriends to walk in groups with you because with the press of a button you can let your friends know to send a little help your way. Right now, Wearsafe is offering you an adventure, and not just any adventure, the adventure of a lifetime! The one that YOU never thought was possible. All you have to do to enter is post a picture on Instagram of yourself on an adventure using the hashtag #WearsafeAdventure. You could also submit a dream idea on the Wearsafe landing page

To all of you ladies and men that are also living in adulthood, join me in regaining our confidence and independence back with the Wearsafe Tag! Dear readers, have you tried the Wearsafe Tag yet?
