Beauty Bit, No Makeup Makeup

Illustrated by Jacqueline Davis Moranti

I tend to change my makeup routines with the seasons, it's the best way to keep up with trends and make sure your makeup cabinet stays fresh. Makeup gets boring especially if done repetitively, I always seek for new innovative products. Anything that can get me ready and out of the door in 10 minutes is key! For the Fall season, the air is cooler and the sun is not as strong which means lessening your use of sunscreen, but not completely! As the leaves change I'm switching up my routine so that it coincides with the temperature difference.

I love makeup, from the shimmer to the smolder to the just plain bold! I'm also not a makeup artist which means the most basic of basics when it comes to the looks I do on my face. I never go overboard, if I'm doing a bold lip thats the only thing that gets accentuated. Same goes with eyes. For this season, I'm making it my mission to perfect the "no makeup" makeup look. Sounds silly, but it is quite beautiful when done right! Though some products are my makeup bag mainstays, it's quite necessary and fun to switch things up. Keep reading to learn what my "hero" products are!

1) Marcelle BB Cream. This product is quite genius, it combines the subtle power of a foundation formula with the added benefit of antioxidants and nutrients for your skin. Makeup that not only makes you look good, but is also good for you! I'll admit that dewy golden skin is always at the top of my beauty wish list and this bb cream helps me achieve that. It's hydrating and it's also safe for sensitive skin.

2) Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade.  First and foremost for my beauty regimen is bold brows! If you were like me in your teen years, you were probably too tweezer happy. I like to dab castor oil occasionally on my brows to regenerate the blood flow to spurt some more hairs but in the mean time I use this amazing wax that fills in the spots while you wait! This formula is water resistant and lasts all day, no need to worry about your brows fading while you sweat in yoga class! Just remember to buy it in a color that closely resembles your hair shade.

3) Eyeko Eye Do. I am always on the quest to find the best mascara, so many of them already out on the market. How does one distinguish one from the other? I think I've met my match with Eyeko's Eye Do, this formula not only lengthens but it is also infused with ingredients that nurture your lashes and helps them grow. All the benefits without the falsies! It only comes in one color, black, but the bolder the better!

4) Bbrowbar Highlighter. As you may have already heard, strobing is all the rage right now. Like I've mentioned, dewy skin is of the utmost importance to many women and highlighting is the best way to achieve it (ahem cheat it). With this highlighter pen, I use it mostly around my eyes, under the brow, irises, top of cheekbones, and nose bridge. Sometimes I'll even use it on my cupid's bow! The pen even comes with a brush/ sponge on the other side for a smoother look. Super convenient, wit ha beautiful golden glow to enhance your natural beauty.

5) Marcelle Natural Palette.  Just like other makeup palettes, Marcelle combines a few eye shadow options to play with in one small, convenient package. I have the natural palette with golds and browns, which creates a fantastic smoky eye. The packaging has two compartments, the top houses the color and the bottom contains a mirror with brushes. I also like to use the gold shade of this palette as a highlighter.

6) Peri Peri Water Balm and Tint. I absolutely love lip tints! Tints last all day and have a beautiful matte finish. With Peri Peri you can layer the color to the intensity you desire and you could also use it on your cheeks for a natural flush! This product also gives me major nostalgia to when I was young and would drink the artificial red juices that colored my lips  and tongue the same color as the drink. Plus the packaging of this product is absolutely adorable!

This season whether you're swapping your tinted moisturizer or lip gloss for something more dramatic, it's a great time to experiment with new products and trends. I'm working on improving my sans makeup look but in the mean time i'll enjoy the challenges and surprises that my new makeup bag will bring! Dear readers, I'd love to know how you're switching up your beauty regimen, are there any trends that you're following?
