Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie

Illustrated by Jacqueline Davis Moranti, c. 2010

With the temperatures rising every year, it seems as though waist lines are also rising. As a short woman, (5 ft. 4 inches) finding clothes to elongate your body can be a difficult feat especially since most retailers tailor to the 5 ft. 7 inches and above crowd. The best way That I have found to make my frame look taller is by wearing high waisted bottoms, from jeans to skirts, trousers to shorts and my favorite, the high waisted bikini! I am all for this trend, although it seems that not everyone tends to agree on this. Petite women want to look tall sometimes, as do I, but a recent survey found that those women looking for some attention might want to steer clear of this trend.

According to a survey by MissTravel.com, 80% of more than 43, 000 respondents hate the trend. This fashionista favorite is an anti- man piece. The conservative high waisted bikini has won over many women in the recent years, making the itsy bitsy teenie weenie bikini almost extinct! From Taylor Swift to the Kardashians, this retro trend is here to make a big impact. From the survey, many responses to it were that this style is akin to a baby diaper and that it "covers up the most attractive parts of a woman's anatomy."

I agree to disagree! This style flatters my petite frame than any other that I have tried. Sure, some styles can seem really repugnant, but I have found many to be the complete opposite. Here are some of my favorites!

Most women head to the beach not to please others, but their selves. Women already have a hard time as it is when it comes to how to dress, going to the beach is almost like an escape from the real world, even if it is for a few hours. Wear what you want to feel comfortable, men will just have to get over it! Dear readers, I would love to hear your thoughts on high waisted swim wear. Worth the hype or passing trend?
