Winter Blues

This winter has been brutally cold. When it comes to the weather patterns here in Philadelphia, there is no in between you either get unseasonably warm or unseasonably frigid. The only answer to stay alive while going from point A to B is by planning your layers. Wearing a pant, top and jacket is not going to cut it because when the wind picks up, slides right under your only layer and  swells up into your pores, that's exactly when you shiver and tremble!

I tend to wear a lot of black and white and while it can be quite challenging, it's still predicable. I've been enforcing myself to wear more navy over black. Too much black can have a somber feel and while I do feel pretty solemn about winter weather I can try to fake it until it's over. Navy has an uplifting mood and reminds me that warmer weather is near. Wearing navy and white is a fresh new take on neutrals. I find it refreshing to finally put away some of my black knits! Navy is Winter's best neutral!
This outfit consisted of base layers and then the toppers because it's how I win at Winter dressing! Warm and chic is key.

Since it has been so chilly and cold out, icy conditions have also become a factor. Wearing sneakers have become a mainstay for me, since I'm always on the move I need to be comfortable in case I need to pick up the speed! Sneakers can be just as fashionable as heels, but more complacent for your feet. I'm also a bit biased because I live in my 574's, so many colors to choose from with a great design, they literally go with every outfit you own!

Alas, Old Man Winter is here to stay for another month and half. The forecast calls for more blizzards, ice, sleet and slippery conditions. I'm embracing Winter with open arms and showing him who's boss by staying chic and fashionable no matter what the weather brings on! Dear readers, I'd love to know how you beat the winter blues with your style!
