Cardio Jams

Illustrated by Jacqueline Davis Moranti
I'm a huge fan of music, it's in our everyday life. From the moment you wake up to the second you close your eyes to sleep, there's always a tapping, chiming, rapping or a banging that adds to the soundtrack of our lives. Music is inspiring, motivating and adds to the mood of many moments in life that's why I was never into school dances... the wrong music choices were always chosen. When it comes to doing my cardio sessions at the gym, I always make sure I've got the right amount of BPMs (Beats Per Minute) to keep my heart rate going.

Flying Lotus @ Electric Zoo, 2010
As I'm doing my cardio, I like to feel as though the music is pulsing through me! Let's admit it, no one truly enjoys doing cardio, but it's a must if you want to tone your body down and good music certainly helps you push yourself that extra mile!

Here's a peak into my cardio playlist....
  1. Hilarity Duff- Kaytranada
  2. Free Things In Life- Kaytranada
  3. She Yells- Sango
  4. You- Gold Panda
  5. Vanilla Minus- Gold Panda
  6. My Chippy- Flying Lotus
  7. Zodiac Shit- Flying Lotus
  8. What You Like- Atu
  9. Beat For- Jamie xx
  10. Dance In Dark- Proxy
  11. 3rd Complex- Nosaj Thing
  12. Fist of God- MSTRKRFT
  13. Fruitful- Sango
  14. Green Tea Power- Flyamsam
  15. Bloom- Dpat
  16. Show Me Love- Steve Angello
  17. Close To Me- Benny Benassi
  18. Hustler- Simian Mobile Disco
  19. Seraphim- Simian Mobile Disco
  20. Could You Want Me- Kastle
My song choices range from the lyric less to vocalized beats, mainstream to completely unknown. One thing is for sure, they all have a BPM from 120- 150 which really helps me get moving! The faster the beat, the faster I seem to run, the slower and I'm more concentrated on the movement. Completing cardio is a bit more fun when your sweating it out to the tunes of your enjoyment. Dear readers, I'd love to know what get's you through your cardio sessions.
