Neutral Normal

When the weather begins to take a dip in temperatures, I tend to go darker with my wardrobe. Black begins to take over my wardrobe palette, creating a neutral canvas for most of my ensembles. As plain as the color black can be, I like to mix it up by adding textures and prints. That is why black will forever be a staple in my closet!

Nothing like a little bit of texture to add a fun mood to your outfit, this skirt is exactly that! Black and tan, suede mini skirt, the second best color combination, although black and white will always be number one for me! My love for neutral pieces stems from trying to live a minimalist lifestyle. Less clutter is always a great thing especially when moving from one place to another, which I recently did. Having neutral garments also makes it easier to extend one's wardrobe by being able to make endless amounts of outfit choices. It also helps you avoid buying trendy pieces, I'm constantly trying to remind myself timeless over trendy!

For this shoot, I was was able to collaborate with one of my talented friends, Suni Silvan. She's a fantastic local Philadelphian photographer with an extensive portfolio of fashion photography. When she contacted me about a street style shoot for Philly Current Magazine, I was totally in! Awesome photos and a spot in a renowned magazine, what's not to love?!
Dear readers, how do you dress in the winter time? Do you tend to wear more neutral colors like I do?

  1. I love the splashes of color on the foreground of a neutral, darker background. It is very effective! That scarf's pattern is attractive too!

  4. Black is definitely a go-to look -- in all seasons. But I love how you paired it with the brown boots and bag -- and the scarf is wonderful. Thanks for sharing!
