Golden Girl

Golden Girl by Jacqueline Davis-Moranti

Ever wonder what it feels like to be dripping in gold?! Me too, but fortunately thanks to Chanel and Balenciaga, from their F/W '12 collections, we can easily envision it! The lustrous, metallic trend is definitely worth a try! I know you're probably thinking, disco ball or Zenon Girl of the 21st Century, if paired right it looks amazing. I wear my metallics with neutrals, like our basic blacks, browns, and whites. Here's a few of my fabulous foiled pieces that I'm really digging right now.

Just think, gold top and black, coated jeans or brown leather jacket with bronze pants! The possibilities are endless and exciting for this seemingly "futuristic" trend!

Sunny Fashion.

Sunglasses have never been a big thing in my wardrobe until recently. I'm most likely to lose them, or accidentally sit on a pair, yes that has unfortunately happened to a very expensive pair of Versace glasses! I think that the more budget friendly options are the way to go because of the unfortunate accidents that can easily happen. Well, I never thought much of glasses, as long as they did their job of protecting my eyesight i was set, even if it didn't match my wardrobe. A couple of years ago when Chanel and and all of the major labels starting introducing the new frames and tints, I was sucked into it's allure! After that I started building my collection of eye wear, even including the hipster frames!
Recently, the kind people of Firmoo were kind enough to send me a pair of awesome sunnies!

Blouse and jeans: Forever21, bag: Urban Outfitters, belt: thrifted, wedges: Jeffrey Campbell,  sunnies: Firmoo

I picked this pair because it had a really cool gradient tint to it and it's huge frame, perfect fit for my face. It also has an aviator shape to it which I love! Firmoo's glasses are made of quality material that aren't going to break on you, I have tested it in ways that may make people cringe for a whole week to ensure it's durability. It passed with flying colors, I totally give it my two thumbs up! And right now, for new customers, the first pair is free, pretty awesome! Check out Firmoo for good, quality glasses, believe me, it's worth it!

Transitional Cools.

I love the period between August and September, that's when the best transitional pieces are introduced.  Don't get me wrong, the summer season is great but by the time August arrives, i'm ready for Autumn! This maxi dress from Sparkle & Fade, from Urban Outfitters, is a perfect transitional piece, I got the dress about two years ago and I've been wearing it in so many different ways. It's great for dressing up, which I have done with a cropped silver, metallic blazer or dressed down with a thick sweater and boots.

Faux Outfit

A really fun way to transform a piece in your wardrobe is by pairing it with another piece of the same color. I do this a lot with my black pieces, it helps me create brand new faux dresses, rompers, and jumpsuits! This outfit, for example, my "faux" asymmetrical dress.

Bag won't close because i'm always carrying a lot of shenanigans!

Top: Forever21, skirt: Nastygal, heels: Zara, satchel: UrbanOutfitters, jewelry: Forever21, thrifted, H&M
I like the result of this "faux" look, it reminds me of a really funky shift dress from the Mod era. Ps, all of the photos were taken by my good friend, Chaucee!

Styld. By Gap

Last night was the premiere of Gap's Icon Redefined Collection for Autumn 2012, at 1510 Walnut Street, Philadelphia, PA. It was an event hosted by Laurie Trott, fashion director of WhoWhatWear. It was amazing to talk to an amazing and influential fashionista! There were drinks, food, a live DJ, 30% off discount, and fashion everywhere. They were even taking photos of everyone wearing denim for a chance to win a $200 Gap gift card! It's nice to attend event like this and network with other like- minded individuals, networking is something I need to work on more often.

For my outfit, I wanted to wear something that could easily be a transitional look into fall, since this was an event geared for that season. Denim and suede, two completely opposite materials, but such a great pairing. And of course, the ankle booties which is becoming my favorite shoe to wear with everything. I had this denim sash lying around and used it as a tie, it felt appropriate!

At the event, I met up with a fellow blogger and amiga, Chaucee of Streets and Stripes. Check her out, you won't be disappointed! Might I add that Gap really has improved it's collections. Gap was always the store to go to for basics, but now it's a go to for even more than that, you could even find a great outfit for a date night! Thumbs up to Gap!

Bibs Aren't Just For Babies.

Statement Eater by Jacqueline Davis-Moranti
Lets face it ladies, we have days when we wear our infamous white tee shirts. Sometimes, especially in the summer months, we want to dress comfortably, but does that mean we have to sacrifice looking great and fashionable at the same time?! I think not!
One of the best ways to dress up a plain, white tee shirt is by way of accessories. Scarves, bracelets, belts, and most importantly necklaces! Necklaces have a way of updating something boring to something extremely intriguing. I like to take my necklaces and play around with them by layering pieces together, it gives confidence and personality to any "plain jane" look. I'm a big fan of statement necklaces, what is this you ask? Statement necklaces are the conversation starters, they're not the chain necklace with the little star pendant. No, these necklaces are bigger and badder (in a good way!) and great with any tee shirt.
I'm also a big fan of v- neck tees, all of that exposed neck area, great canvas for statement pieces!
Here are a few renditions i've managed to pull off!

And of course, some complimentary jewelry to add some more pizazz to your "statement."

Tell me ladies, how do you make your "statement?"

The Little Pink Dress.

Lately I have found myself wearing this particular dress quite frequently, in many different ways. This little pink dress I found At Forever21 is perfect for layering, it's awesome by its self but I find it lacks interest, alone. I'm starting to feel like my go to color is pink, many things I own are pink or pink related, even my BF is starting to notice! It's an addiction!

It Girls by Jacqueline DavisMoranti

I created this image of four characters to represent the different looks and outfits that I managed to pull off with the dress. The "Feminine" girl is wearing the pink dress under a classic, bow pleated skirt and a scarf draped around her neck. This look could also be considered preppy as well, especially if you switch out the scarf for a cardigan, A la Carlton Banks style! Little Miss "Boho" wears her dress under a fun, printed, A- line skirt. "Edgy" girl is a bit more daring, she wears it (the dress) over a sleeveless, button up blouse, then tops it off with a leather vest. Very Girls Night Out! The last girl, "Urban" wears her pink dress under a striped body con skirt and a cool fringed vest. This look might seem sort of bohemian, but I think the body con skirt took it out of that category.

These are the same looks on the It Girls.

I've been asked before if I actually wear the outfits I post on my dress form, he answer is ofcourse! I wouldn't post something and say that I wore it, without actually wearing it. Where is the fun in that?! I do so much, especially in the creative field, so i'm not restricted by a uniform. Expressing my self in what I wear is something I do, to the fullest extent!
It cracks me up, when women worry about buying things that their friends already have, for fear of having the same dress, pants, skirt, shoes, you name it! It all depends on how you style it, because as I have demonstrated, you can easily wear one dress in so many different ways. Have fun styling!

Freestyle.

You remember that time in the 80's when the "Freestyle" music was heard all over? Yea, I wasn't really around to fully embrace that moment in music history either, but growing up I have listened to it, think Stevie B, Lisa Lisa, Cover Girls, and Laissez Faire. When I hear this music, it definitely, at least to me, defines that era (1980s).
Anyways, I brought it to attention because this outfit, makes me think of that music, bright colors paired together especially pink, even my hair has an 80's reminiscent feel to it, although my hair will always seem that way! These photos were taken by my good friend Drake Murray. I don't think he's fully aware of the talent that he beholds, truly love his work and I hope to collaborate with him even more in the future!

Drake really wanted this concept for his portfolio, technology(e-reader) vs. traditional(good ol' books).

Water + Technology = Not a Good Idea.

This past week, I had a photoshoot with Caramente Clothing. It was so much fun, the inspiration for the designer's current collection was mermaids! So many of the shots were taken underwater, our location was in a salt water pool, so no fabrics were harmed in the shoot! As far as I could see, the collection looked amazing in the water, the skirts and dresses flailed out enough to show off the shape of it. The day started out rainy, luckily enough it ended early so we could have some sunshine onto the pool.  The make up artist created some really beautiful looks, alot of color and shimmer, and to my surprise they lasted even after being underwater. It was a little trick that the makeup artist, Alicia, like to call hairspray! As far as styling the models I also made floral crowns, they complimented the looks very well.

After a while, the photographer's camera stopped working, right in the middle of our photoshoot! See, he was using this water proof case for his camera, it was ok for the first two hours, then it just didn't want to turn back on. I guess it wasn't as waterproof as we thought. Good thing I was there with my camera! I then had to fill in and take the role of photographer! It's a good thing i'm a creative individual!  I really like how my photos turned out! It's even more fun editing, photoshop is my best friend!
I took photos of the models from outside of the pool, over top of them, I was not going to ruin my Canon!

Overall, the photoshoot was nothing short of fun and exciting! The models were great to work with and I sort of became the "hero" for the day by filling in as photographer. I guess there's something else to add to my repertoire! It got me thinking, with all the technology and intelligence we have nowadays, why wouldn't companies make cameras and even cell phones that are already waterproof, rather than having to buy external skins and shells to waterproof it?!
On a different note, Caramente Clothing is having a sale on it's summer collection, up 50% off on everything, until August 9th! I know what I want from the line!
