Inspired!

Jacket: Forever21, Belt: Forever21, Scarf: H&M, Bag: H&M

I found this beautiful trench from Forever21 recently, and I'm so glad I did! It's such a refreshing spin to the usual trench coat with it's polka dot pattern. Polka dots and trenches are my loves! It is the inspiration to my next photo shoot, patterns and bold colors. This look is not for the shy ones!

Cloudy with a Chance of Rain.

boots: Doc Martens, dress and cardigan thrifted, bag: H&M, scarf: thrifted, belt: F21, necklaces: F21, rings: gifted

I know on rainy days, most people prefer to wear rain specific boots, like the great Wellingtons. I actually prefer Doc Martens, I call them my rain boots. They have the best grip on slick ground and icy situations. And of course extremely comfortable without clashing with most of my outfits!

On this particular rainy day, I went with a very subdued look, an olive green dress and a brown oversized cardigan to keep me warm in this frigid weather. I feel like I live in black opaques throughout the winter season, it's one the easiest bases for any outfit. My pops of color are from the bag, the necklaces and the belt, it's my way of keeping things interesting on an otherwise neutral look.

New Faves

I don't know if any of you have heard of Shoemint, but it's one of my new favorite places to get shoes from! Shoemint works like a monthly, exclusive club where you can choose from a limited amount of designer shoes for a very affordable price. Not only that, Shoemint works with Steve Madden, the shoe designer extraordinaire! Which means the shoes are made with great materials, precision and a lot of love! The curators of the collection are Rachel Bilson and her stylist, Nicole Chavez. I love Rachel's style!

The pair shown here, is called the Pauline, in wine suede. Any color that is remotely similar to burgundy, I absolutely love! It's a great color that can be paired with a lot of other colors, such as browns, blacks, and blues. I'm a big color blocking enthusiast. Wedge booties are also super comfortable and can be worn with a variety of outfits. Be sure to keep a look out for these bad boys in upcoming posts!

Hostess

I'm Not one to host parties, but I really want to change that, especially now that I have my own place. Zach (bf) and I went to Wegmans to get all of our party supply. I pretty much go everywhere in heels, it's something I'm getting very used to. These green booties are from Forever21 and my coat is from Express. It's my favorite coat that I own, super warm and comfortable. The scarf and top were thrifted, while the black skinnies were from Urban Outfitters. Grocery shopping in style!

We thought it would be a good a idea to make our own pizza, since it's a universally liked meal, and very customizable. Our guests definitely enjoyed adding toppings to the pizza. The pizzas actually turned out great, besides the fact that they turned into calzones in the oven! Some wine for drinks, plantains and fruits for the appetizer and red velvet and carrot cake for dessert. Overall, it was a great little rendezvous!

Next styling session

I'm currently working on creating a more professional styling portfolio, my current one features all the outfits on my mannequin. This time I'm using actual models, a lot more fun this way! With the next shoot I want to do a very bohemian, girly look... I think it's what my friends say I look like the most. Alot of fringe, suede and chevron shapes, as you can see in my sketches. I'm really excited to work on this!

These are shots of the key items I will use for the shoot. Most of them I've found in Forever21, some of them are thrifted.

Introduction

Hello world, I've figured it's about time I tried the whole blogging thing! My name is Jacqui and I guess my objective for the blog is inspiration, influence and showcasing my ideas of style.  Since this is the inevitable first post, it only seemed fitting to label it the "introduction."  I'm a recent graduate of the University of the Arts, in Philadelphia. I'm a fashion addict which is why a lot of my illustrations concentrate on fashion and beauty. I love to style and dress up my friends for fun, I think I have a knack for it!

I'll admit, i've got a strange sense of styling myself! But where's the fun if you're not experimenting?

I love fashion so much that I decided to turn a bedroom into a walk in closet, I mean isn't that what any girl would do with an extra room?! I figured, I love my clothes, why not showcase it instead of hide it in a drawer. The results, a fabulous space where I can find exactly what I'm looking for each day. It was quite easy to set up, especially with the help a handyman, thanks boyfriend! All of the furniture was purchased at Ikea, which made it an affordable project! All in all, it was a great idea, now my clothes aren't in bins and my bags aren't all over the floor, everything is in it's right place, like Radiohead would say.
